Diamond Cuts – Tasty Evening Snack with Maida

Homemakers always are confused when it comes to evening snacks, especially when you are expecting guests, or when your school going kids come back to home after their day long fight with hectic syllabus. Today I am going to introduce a very simple crispy snack which will be liked by elders and kids alike.

Diamond cuts is the given name, and as the name suggests, it has the shape of a diamond. This curious bite need only very little cooking skill and can be served within half an hour. Though the main ingredient is maida flour, it can also be prepared using wheat flour, or using a mixture of basin and maida.

Recipe

Maida                 – 2 cups
Egg                     – 1
Sugar                  – 3 table spoon
Baking Powder   – 1 tea spoon
Salt                     – To taste
Water
Oil

Preparation

Mix powdered sugar with egg and beat nicely. Pour it on to the Maida flour and mix with fork. Add baking powder, salt to it, and mix with water like Chapati dough.  Make small balls using the final mixed dough, and spread each of these balls like Chapati, but with little more thickness. Cut them in a crisscross manner with at least one inch size on one side, so that each piece would assume the diamond shape.

Pour oil onto a preheated pan, and put the diamond pieces into it. When it turns slightly brown, say in two three minutes, flip them using a ladle or a spoon. When it becomes crispy, (it might take around five minutes) scoop them into a plate.

Serve them with coffee or tea. Your guests would like it.
